Welcome to Puerto Rico!
Whether your cruise ship is in port for six hours or twelve, one thing is certain: time flies. If your goal is to experience as much of Puerto Rico's coastline as possible before sailing away, here's exactly how we'd do it.
Don't Waste Your Day Waiting:
Cruise days are all about making the most of every minute. The last thing you want to do is spend your vacation waiting.
Waiting for a tour to leave. Waiting for taxis. Waiting in line for a rental car. And definitely no one wants to spend the day circling the block looking for parking.
Insider Tip: Reserve a scooter from Puerto Rico Scooter & Can Am Rentals!
Reserve ahead of time and your adventure starts almost immediately. Our shop is just a 10 minute Uber/Lyft ride from the San Juan Cruise Port, and most guests are on the road in less than 15 minutes. If your ship docks before our regular walk-in hours, we can often arrange an earlier pickup with advance notice.
The best part? Freedom.
No fixed tour schedule. No crowded buses. No compromising. You'll have the flexibility to explore Puerto Rico at your own pace - and we'll send you off with our favorite routes, local recommendations and plenty of time to make it back to the ship.
One Day. A Whole Lot of Adventure.
Most cruise passengers don't go beyond Old San Juan. We get it, it's convenient. The buildings are colorful, the forts and cobblestone streets are iconic and it's a total vibe.
But if that's all you see, you've only scratched the surface!
With a scooter, you'll have the freedom to explore more than 15 miles of Puerto Rico's beautiful metro coastline in a single afternoon. From artsy neighborhoods and beautiful beaches to local food kiosks and historic landmarks, every stop offers something completely different - and getting there is half the fun.
Cruise the coast through Condado and Ocean Park, where locals gather to surf, kiteboard and soak up the Caribbean sun. Continue east toward Isla Verde and Piñones, where miles of palm-lined coastline, roadside kiosks and local beaches replace the city skylines.
Hungry? Perfect.
This route is packed with local favorites. Grab a pincho fresh off the grill. Try your first alcapurria. Cool off with fresh coconut water or a piragua before hopping back on your scooter. (Not sure what an alcapurria is? Check out our Street Food Guide!)
As the afternoon winds down, make your way back toward Old San Juan. Wander the colorful streets, browse the local shops, and if time allows, catch sunset from the lawn at Castillo San Felipe del Morro before heading back to your ship.
Want a deeper dive into the neighborhoods along the route? We've also put together a guide to 5 Coastal Neighborhoods That Deserve a Spot on Your Puerto Rico Bucket List.
Your Cruise. Your Adventure.
You only get one day in Puerto Rico. Make it a good one.
Skip the waiting. See more than just Old San Juan. Eat somewhere unexpected. Stop when the view deserves it. Take the long way back.
We'll take care of the route. You make the memories.
